Tiny farmer’s village near the beach

  • Local markets
  • Farming with buffaloes
  • "Loft" homes

While this village makes you feel like you’ve been dropped in the middle of nowhere, in fact you’re only a few kilometres away from a beach where many locals as well as foreigners go swim on warm days. A short bicycle ride away you will find a local market with piles of fresh seafood, fruit and veggies.

Most families in this village live in Vietnamese loft styled houses with just one big room in the house. Sharing a room is all part of the experience, but if you insist on having a door that can be shut, tell your Duara Contact and he will arrange one for you.

The majority here are farmers, but you might also find yourself running a small neighbourhood shop or visiting a school with a local teacher.

Like most of Vietnam, this village is moderately Buddhist, but religion is generally not in the forefront of daily life. Ancestors play an important role in worship and festivities.

Most Vietnamese people sleep on beds without mattresses in the summertime - because it’s cooler! Feel free to ask for a mattress if you’re not ready to test your limits. Most families have them in store for the winter.
