“My experience in the village was everything that the advertisements promised, just in a different way that i expected. At my arrival the host family was very welcoming and i felt at home quickly. But after the second day i realized the host himself was very busy and did not have too much time to guide me around the area. So his little, 13 year old, brother had to do it who did not seem to happy about it. All in all I am definitely glad I stayed at the village, I just wish I would have got more clear information on what to expect.”

“Bali is very touristy so I loved this opportunity to see local life in Perasi. Karangasem region has it all - mountains (even an active volcano Mt Agung!), beaches and rice fields. There is also a lot of cultural monuments. Not only did I get to meet my host family, but I was also introduced to other family members and their friends. Everybody was very friendly, welcoming and wanted to share whatever they had, whether it was food or palm wine. I will definitely remember this experience for the rest of my life. If you want to see the real Bali, you should give Duara a try!”

“Travelling through Duara has been an incredible experience. I stayed in Perasi with a local family who welcomed and treated me as part of their family. I was able to engage with several daily tasks such as cooking, going to local market, praying and I even been in the family farm where I gave a hand and had great fun.

I was fortunate to have the two younger members of the family who were always willing to show me the hidden gems of the area. Beautiful beaches, a river and much more. I'm so grateful for the whole experience, and most especially for meeting a family who are genuinely happy to share their habits, costumes, culture, and house with a stranger which they treated as part of their family. And, yes I feel like I got a family in Bali, who I really look forward to seeing when I return to Bali. I highly recommend Perasi if you are willing to explore the simplest and best things in life.”

“I had such a fantastic time in Perasi. The family spoke fantastic English and moreover were so kind and friendly. They really embraced me into their home and culture, with the daughter even lending me clothes so I could take part in a traditional Balinese ceremony. This was an experience I certainly would not have had without Duara! There were a lot of lovely things to do in the area and the locals knew it like the back of their hand so it was easy to get the best out of the region. The food was 10/10! Much of it was meaty but I have no doubt the family will happily cater to all diets. Thanks again!”
